AlgaEnergy, a Spanish company of international reference in the biotechnology of microalgae, actively participates in the COP25 Climate Change Conference that takes place in Madrid until the 13th of December. The biotechnology company has been invited to participate in the Green Zone, a citizen space, meeting and environmental awareness place. As pointed out by the organization, "AlgaEnergy is a clear example of disruptive innovation for sustainability, ecological transition and the climate challenge". For this reason, the company will have an outstanding participation in the session “Innovation for the Blue Economy. The social, environmental and economic value of the oceans”, which will take place on the 13th during the closing of the Conference.
Within this unique framework, AlgaEnergy will be able to present its activities and how microalgae and its derivative products promote the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, including the SDG ‘Climate Action’. Not surprisingly, microalgae are microorganisms that inhabit the planet Earth from 3,500 million years ago and develop oxygenic photosynthesis, releasing oxygen (O2) into the atmosphere and synthesizing organic matter from its main nutrient, carbon dioxide (CO2), at the expense of an inexhaustible energy source, namely solar energy.
AlgaEnergy focuses its activity on the intensive and controlled cultivation of microalgae in ultramodern photobioreactors, as well as on the use of the biomass generated for sectors such as agriculture, nutrition, aquaculture, cosmetics and energy, among others, hence contributing to the alleviation of the three major crises that Humanity is facing: food security, environmental and energy crises. In this sense, AlgaEnergy has developed and successfully its range of agricultural biostimulantsAgriAlgae®, whose production process uses, as raw material, biomass of different species of microalgae, without generating any type of waste.
The biostimulants AgriAlgae®, which already have been used by more than 700,000 farmers in different regions of the world, can be used on any type of crop, improving yields, in qualitative and quantitative terms. Consequently, they are actively contributing to the so-called 'biorevolution' that the agricultural sector is experiencing.
